Psychotherapy is a way to address and understand personal, often problematic, difficulties in your life. Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Social Workers are trained to allow a person to confidentially discuss their feelings and/or emotions and together, come up with a plan to address those issues.
Psychotherapy can support people with situational crisis, chronic mental illness, concurrent disorders (addictions and mental health) or perhaps you just need someone to listen. Counselling and psychotherapy in Caledonia may be just what you need!
There are many different modalities of treatment to use in Psychotherapy. Our therapists are trained in a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy and more. It is impossible to suggest a specific modality until an initial assessment is completed. The first psychotherapy appointment is an assessment and information gathering session so we can best offer suggestions and recommendations for therapeutic treatment.
After an initial assessment appointment clients are provided recommendations and suggestions for therapy. Psychotherapy is a commitment on the client and therapist's behalf. Often it takes time to build a professional relationship with your therapist so you feel comfortable and secure sharing information.
If we are unable to support you and your needs, we will refer you a colleague or service who can.
